Bally drop targets are renowned for the "Brick Wall" effect. i.e. when hit cleanly face on they will not drop. Gottlieb drop targets on the other hand, are flawless in operation though can be more difficult to maintain.
I have a theory as to why the Bally drop targets don't always work and will attempt to document my findings and hopefully cure in this blog. Comparisons between the Bally and Gottlieb mechanisms will tell shed some light on the matter.
